Triumph & Disaster ~ Grooming & Skincare Tools
Observation One: Triumph & Disaster’s packaging is super stylish … very ‘Dapper and Old School’.
I have visions of the quintessential metrosexual David Beckham types perusing the bespoke tailors on Savile Row snapping up the complete T&D range, but it could equally appeal to the uber-manly-mans of the world. Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson and Liam Neeson would rock this brand big time. Appealing to both the metro’s & the manly-man camp is no mean feat and Triumph & Disaster have done this well.
Observation Two: The ingredient list in all of the products is impressive, showcasing Kiwi nature is at its best. Horopito, a native shrub is now making its mark in the wellness industry for its potent anti-fungal properties and in 5 star restaurants with chefs relishing its peppery tang. Ponga is beautiful species of fern, renowned for its medicinal and healing properties. Maori used it to heal their wounds after battle.
Observation Three: The marketing and website are very refreshing, it is definitely geared towards the male consumer who can shop for himself, I like that they seek to inform men in their own language with little quips throughout the website like Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-ba) and Men don’t exfoliate, Men scrub!
Products are derived from nature and engineered with science to be safe, efficient and highly effective. We avoid all the industry bad boys, like Parabens, Silicones and Petrochemicals and we do not test on animals other than ourselves.
We try for humility, believe in risk and walk with just a hint of swagger. Triumph & Disaster
Rock & Roll Suicide – Volcanic Ash and Green Clay Face Scrub
100ml – NZD39.00
Named after a David Bowie song, the Rock & Roll Suicide Scrub is not for the faint hearted. This is a strong scrub that removes dead skin, clears blocked pores, and preps the skin for shaving. The Volcanic Ash (comprised from sulfur) is antibacterial, great for blackheads and with its gritty texture provides the oomph in the scrub. Men battling with blemishes, ingrown hairs and large pores will benefit from the Green Clay & Kaolin, these clays are composed from rich and healing minerals that not only draw toxins from the skin but also soothe and heal impurities.
The fragrance of Smoke and Wood is gorgeous but I’m a girl – true story, when two men who sampled the product for two weeks opened the scrub for the first time, all responded the same way, their eyes closed and a manly grunt emerged from their lips. Personally I loved the fragrance but clearly not as much as the men.
The general consensus between us all: Rock & Roll Suicide Face Scrub is gritty, healing, refreshing and gets the job done.
